Director of Central Intelligence

The Director of Central Intelligence ( DCI) from 1946 until 21 April 2005 Official line item within the United States government, which was perceived by the respective director of the Central Intelligence Agency since 1947.

The Director of Central Intelligence served both as director of the Foreign Intelligence Service, the Central Intelligence Agency as well as the parent head of the - at that time - 15 different U.S. intelligence agencies - the so-called intelligence community - and advised the U.S. president in intelligence matters.

Splitting of the Office in DIRCIA and DNI

2004 recommended the 9/11 Commission Report, which examined the history of the terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001, figuring partition the Office of the Director of Central Intelligence.
