National Democratic Focus

National Democratic Focus ( German National Democratic Focus ) is a political party in Zambia.

National Democratic Focus must be kept apart from the National Democratic Forum. The latter is an electoral alliance, which has later changed its name to United Democratic Alliance, in order to better be distinguishable. The Electoral Alliance National Democratic Front, however, is a forerunner of the NDF.

History

The NDF was created from the merger of the Reform Party under the former Vice-President Nevers Mumba, the Party for Unity, Democracy and Development of Zambia and the Democratic Congress. This merger happened at the founding meeting on 17 and 18 June 2006 in view of the forthcoming elections.

As Präsidentschaftkandiat for the NDF was the former defense minister, Benjamin Mwila nominated, which actually belongs to the Zambia Republic Party and thus went to the electoral alliance Zambia Alliance for Progress, the Dean Mung'omba in Zambia in the election of 2006. But that was typical of this election, tried in the leading politicians to bring the strongest coalitions behind to win the elections. From where it was clear that the future party system would emerge in them.
