National Gymnasium of Natural Sciences and Mathematics "Academician Lyubomir Chakalov"

The National Mathematics and Natural Sciences High School " Acad Ljubomir Tschakalow " ( Bulgarian Национална природо - математическа гимназия " Академик Любомир Чакалов " short NPMG ) is a high school in Sofia, Bulgaria. The school was founded in 1968 and is named after the Bulgarian mathematician Ljubomir Tschakalow.

History and Achievements

The school was founded in September 1964 on the initiative of the Department of Mathematics at the University of Sofia as eight-year secondary polytechnic school, it became independent in 1968. In 1974, a Klassenszug with a focus on physics, a 1976 to 1977 with a focus on chemistry and one for biology. With the Reorganisationion the education system in Bulgaria in 1983 biotechnology, and earth sciences were conducted independently. Since 1994, the collaboration with the University 's official. The school also works as a Cisco Networking Academy with the University of Sofia together.

The school is one of the most famous in the city and has achieved numerous successes, such as medals of the International Biology Olympiad ( Beijing 2006 gold, silver Taipei in 2012, Brussels in 2001, bronze in 2010 Changwon, Tsukuba in 2009, Mumbai in 2008, Brisbane in 2004, Antalya, 2000 ), several participations in the Olympic Games for Geography and Economics (4th place San Diego, 2007 ) and Philosophy and numerous wins and places in national competitions.
