National Iranian Petrochemical Company

National Petrochemical Company (NPC ), also known as National Iranian Petrochemical Company ( NIPC ) is an Iranian company with headquarters in Tehran. The company is a state- owned company and is part of the Iranian Ministry of Petroleum. The Department is responsible for the development and organization of the oil market in Iran.

History

1964, after the start of the White Revolution, the Cabinet of Prime Minister Hassan Ali Mansour adopted a plan to build the petrochemical industry in Iran. Mohammad Reza Shah had pointed out in his 1960 book release " In the service of my country " on the future importance of the petrochemical industry for Iran. Then a law was passed in the spring of 1965, was made on the basis of the structure of the petrochemical industry in Iran. Baqer Mostiowfi took over the management of the NPC and began planning one of the largest petrochemical complexes in the world. As an industrial partner, the Japanese Mitsui Group was involved in the construction of the industrial complex.

In addition to the liquefaction of gas and the production of light petroleum products a full range of petrochemical products should be produced and shipped through the port of Mahschahr. The start of production was planned for 1980. Until 1978, the investments and built for the workers and employees new city were almost completed. Total construction costs amounted to $ 10 billion

The construction work was temporarily interrupted after the Islamic revolution, but later resumed. Currently, NPC is the second largest producer and exporter of petrochemicals in the Middle East.
