The National Research University of Electronic Technology / MIET (Russian Национальный исследовательский университет " МИЭТ " / МИЭТ, literally National Research University " MIET ") is a national research university in Russia in the field of microelectronics. It is located in Moscow's Zelenograd administrative district.

History

The University ( then the Moscow Institute of Electronic Technology ) was officially founded on December 9, 1965, shortly after the entry into force of the corresponding decree of the Council of Ministers of the USSR. In September of the following year of teaching could be already partially received, the premises of the university were initially housed temporarily in a school building. In the first year of teaching activities were a total of about 250 students, mostly from Zelenograd, enrolled at the university.

1967 began on a former industrial site in the south Selenograds the planning and construction work on the main campus of MIET. With equipment of the facade of the main building, but also the lecture halls and courtyards of the famous sculptor Ernst Neizvestny was commissioned. A total of four campus were built in the next four years. Construction was completed in late 1971.

The MIET had in its history so far four rectors. Since 1998, Prof. Yuri Chaplygin clothed, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, this office. Currently, the university is organized into eleven faculties and college, the total number of chairs is in excess of 30
