National Resistance Army

National Resistance Army ( NRA) is the name of a rebel group which started the armed struggle against the regime of Milton Obote in Uganda in the early 1980s. After 1985 Tito Okello took power, led the NRA after a brief ceasefire their struggle continues. As a political wing of the movement, the National Resistance Movement (NRM ) was established.

The NRA was led by Yoweri Museveni, who in 1986 was able to take power in Uganda. In the presidential election of 1996, the Museveni government was legitimized, then the NRA was renamed the Uganda People's Defense Force.

As in many other African resistance movements also were in the ranks of the NRA child soldiers.
