National Slate Museum

The National Slate Museum ( National Slate Museum ) is located in Gilfach Ddu (Wales, UK), and is part of the Padarn Country Park, Llanberis. It is housed in the former workshop buildings of the discontinued Dinorwic quarry, where it was broken for a long time slate.

The slate industry in Wales was a long time in addition to the coal one of the most important industries of the region. Similar to the Llechwedd Slate Caverns, the museum recalls. It was opened after it had received 1.6 million British pounds from the state lottery. It shows, among other things, the houses Victorian quarrymen who once were in Blaenau Ffestiniog.
