Llanberis

Llanberis [ ɬanbɛrɪs ] is a village in Wales, of which the Snowdon Mountain Railway, a funicular railway to Mount Snowdon starts.

History

Llanberis was originally developed in the context of the slate industry in Wales. A museum in Llanberis, the National Slate Museum at the former site of the Dinorwic quarry, remembered today in it.

Since the decline of the industry, the town lives mainly from tourism. A large number of tourists coming into the place to go from here with either the cog railway up Snowdon or highly wander on foot.

Tourism

Llanberis is a popular starting point for the ascent of Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales. The Llanberis path starts here and although it is one of the longest route to the summit, he is also one of the most popular.
