The National Stadium in East Timor ( Portuguese: Estádio Nacional de Timor- Leste ) is a multi-purpose stadium in East Timor's capital Dili. It is located on Avenida Bispo Medeiros in Audian district ( Suco Santa Cruz, Nain Feto sub-district ) and is one of the Federação de Futebol de Timor- Leste.

Overview

Renovated in 2011, the stadium has 5,000 spectators. The space is difficult because the subsoil consists of rock and only a thin turf with often dry grass over it. These climatic conditions come with partly high temperatures and heavy rainfall in the rainy season.

Use

The stadium is primarily used for football matches. Here the finals of the national leagues Taça Digicel and Super League Timorense be discharged. However, so far the only official country home game of the national team of East Timor was held in Bali (Indonesia) at the stadium of Gianyar.

From 29th April to 2nd May 2010 found in the Timor Sea Cup Stadium, in which teams from Dili, Kupang (Indonesia) and Darwin ( Australia) participated. Before that, there were games between East Timor U17 team and a selection of the U.S. Navy and a tournament in which the national team of East Timor, a UN police - team selection and an Australian- New Zealand team took part.

2002 has been replaced Kylie Minogue and John Farnham at the stadium. 2006 was in the stadium a camp for refugees because of that unrest.
