National Training Laboratories

The National Training Laboratory ( NTL) is the " cradle" of group dynamics and organizational development, it was 1947 in Bethel (Maine ) was founded. Pioneers in the fields of psychology, sociology, education, anthropology, psychiatry and philosophy explored development and change (processes) of small groups. In training groups (T group) were broken by observation and self-awareness ( consciousness raising group, sensitivity group) the usual divide between teaching, research and learning. They developed new group-oriented methods for teaching and learning. The findings have found far beyond the academic field also input in all areas of life. The encounter groups and group psychotherapy had its roots here.
