The National University of Malaysia ( Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Mal, Eng. National University of Malaysia) ( UKM ) in Bangi, Selangor, is a public university in Malaysia. It was founded in 1970 and is now a Research University with over 20,000 students. The motto of the University is Memimpin ilmu ( knowledge leads ). As the language of the Malay language will be used.

History

Considerations for a separate national university in Malaysia, there were already at the beginning of the 20th century. After independence in 1957, the discussion about a university with Malay as the language of flared up again. Therefore, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in 1970 was founded with the three faculties of science, art and Islamic sciences.

Organization

The university is headed by the Chancellor, several Prokanzlern, the Rector ( Vice-Chancellor ), the treasurer and the director of the Record. The Chancellor and the three Prokanzler are honorary positions and are staffed by well-known personalities, while the full-time management of the University is headed by the rector. The entire university management is overseen by a board of directors.
