Natural National Landscape

The umbrella brand National Natural Landscapes summarizes all major wildlife areas: the 14 national parks, 16 biosphere reserves and 103 nature reserves. The protected areas are protected landscapes, intended to preserve and develop the natural heritage. Secure habitat of man and nature through the protection of soil, water and air as well as of communities of animals and plants. They are involved in the careful development of the grown natural and cultural landscapes. Since conservation lies at national level, to the family brand National Natural Landscapes has been developed. The brand aims to unify and support, attention and show the natural beauty can be discovered in Germany nationwide communication. The objectives of the National Natural landscapes are different. From the birth of undisturbed wilderness to destroy to landscape use without natural enough that span. These differences to unite under one roof, is the concern of EUROPARC Germany eV The association is a national section of the EUROPARC Federation, a Europe-wide non-profit organization.

History

  • In 1973 founded the Hamburg businessman Dr. hc Alfred Toepfer, the European umbrella organization Federation of Nature and National Parks of Europe, which is known as EUROPARC Federation today. 1991 EUROPARC Germany was founded as an umbrella organization for the local national parks, biosphere reserves and nature parks.
  • Between 1993 and 1997 EUROPARC Germany was a common appearance for some national parks apply, but this proved not to be permanent.
  • In November 2004 EUROPARC Germany started the project to bring all large protected areas under one roof.
  • Beginning of 2005, the corporate design has been set. As it should represent many different natural landscapes, the logo should indeed provide uniformity, but also allow the individuality. Therefore, the concept of the point has been developed which is three colors. Each National Natural landscape has its own color combination.
  • One year after the start of the project, on 21 November 2005, the brand "National Landscapes " in a press conference at the Federal Press Office in Berlin was presented to the public. Panelists Roland Koch, Prime Minister of Hesse, Fritz Brickwedde, General Secretary of the German Federal Environmental Foundation ( DBU), Eberhard Henne, President of EUROPARC Germany, and Herbert Guenther, chairman of the Association of German Nature Parks (VDN ).
  • 2006 West German politicians announced their support of the National Natural Landscapes to: in May, Chancellor Angela Merkel in a speech in Bonn in October and Federal President Horst Köhler.
  • The Bundestag decision entitled " National Natural Landscapes - Opportunities for nature conservation, tourism, environmental education and sustainable regional development ", which took place in March 2007, has contributed to the political support not only at the federal level, but also at the country level.

Projects

EUROPARC Germany eV intensified the work in the National Natural Landscapes through various projects. These include:

  • Honor nature

In many National Natural Landscapes volunteers are in use. Under the guidance of a full-time rangers take care of, among other reasons, to maintain habitats to protect wildlife or to take care of visitor facilities.

  • Junior Ranger

The National Natural landscapes are also a place of learning for the Junior Ranger. Here going children aged 7 to 12 years old with expert rangers on discovery tours. The joint project of EUROPARC Germany and WWF Germany is the most comprehensive education initiative in European protected areas.

  • Internship for the Environment.

For students, the project offers internships in the fields of environmental education and outreach. The internships will take place from April to October in one of the 28 participating National Natural Landscapes and have a duration of three to six months. As a joint project of the Internship for the Environment in 1990 by EUROPARC Germany and Commerzbank was launched.

  • Partner of the National Natural Landscapes

Partner initiatives of the National Natural Landscapes must meet certain quality criteria. They are committed to the conservation and environmental protection and are partners in the region. Over 400 tourism businesses and service providers make their offer of high quality as well as natural and environmentally friendly. The partner initiatives are managed as quality initiatives in Germany tourism on the website of the German Tourism Association ( DTV).
