Naukydes of Argos

Naukydes was a Greek sculptor from Argos.

Formed under the influence of the elder Polykleitos, he created a gold and ivory statue of the lifting of the temple of Hera in Argos, a bronze statue of Hecate, a Hermes, several victories statues, the statue of the poet Erinna, a ram- sacrificing Phrixus ( on the Acropolis at Athens ) and a discus thrower. It is believed that some of the latter marble replicas have received (including the Vatican ). His pupil was Polykleitos the Younger.
