Navajo Mountain is a 3166 m high, free-standing mountain in the southeast of the U.S. state of Utah near the Arizona border. The summit is 3.5 km north of the border, while the mountain range, although predominantly located in Utah, extends south to Arizona and across the border. The name of the mountain in the language of the Navajo ( Diné ) is Naatsis'áán, which means as much as the head of the earth. The mountain plays a role in the mythology of the Navajo ( people ). The Navajo Mountain is located south of Lake Powell formed by the Colorado River and is a so-called Lakkolith tiefenvulkanischen origin.
