Navarrese Company

The Navarrese Company ( Compañía navarre ) was a mercenary force that was recruited mainly from Navarre and Gascony.

The company was first used by King Charles II of Navarre in the war against France and lost the peace agreement in 1366 their livelihood. The mercenaries were inspired by Louis of Navarre, the brother of Charles II, recruit, who had significantly grow through recruitment of Navarre the troupe 1372-1375 and finally started in the battle for the Duchy of Durazzo. In the summer of 1376 the troops indeed succeeded in conquering the city of Durazzo, but this success was Ludwig no longer use because he died shortly after. The company then moved in 1377 to Peter IV of Aragon, which it established in Sicily.

1378 came after the company Morea. 1379 campaigned Jacques des Baux them there in the battle for the Principality of Achaia at, after which they ravaged the Peloponnese in the following years. They also conquered Thebes and parts of the Duchy Neopatria and the Duchy of Athens. After Jacques des Baux had died in 1383, the company took over even the de facto rule in Achaia and the conquests of the neighboring areas. After some turmoil to 1396 Pedro Bordo de San Superano († 1402), the captain of the Navarrese Company sat through as the new prince of Achaia.
