Naziresha Mosque

The Naziresha Mosque (Albanian Xhamia e Nazireshës ) is a mosque in the city of Elbasan and is one of the national cultural heritage of Albania.

The mosque is located directly on the southern outskirts of Elbasan to the ring road and the railway.

It was built in 1599 or earlier at the request of a Nazir, a religious official, or a subsidiary of such a Nazire. The small building measures 10.7 meters square, the interior still 8.7 meters. Above this is the octagonal tiled dome. The no longer existing porch was made of wood. In the north- west rises the minaret. It featured a richly furnished balcony, the tip is missing. The interior decoration was destroyed by soot and dust, was burned as waste within.

In 1948 the mosque was declared a cultural monument. Also restoration work performed - During the communist dictatorship were - probably in the 1980s. 2006, the mosque was renovated again. 2013, it was extensively restored again with the support of the Turkish government.
