Nebit

Nebit was an Egyptian vizier under Sesostris III of the probable. (about 1872 BC to about 1852 BC) officiated.

Nebit is so far known only from the remnants of his mastaba, the next to the pyramid of Sesostris III. found at Dahshur. The mastaba was initially excavated by Jacques de Morgan in 1894, but could not find the owner's name. Renewed excavations by Dieter Arnold finally rendered the title and name of Nebit. The mastaba consisted of a core of mud bricks and was covered on the outside with limestone. This panel has been stolen in antiquity of stone-robbers and it is only small fragments. On the north side of the building the panel, however, is overthrown in ancient times to the ground. These blocks have been covered by desert sand; the later stone robbers they saw why. The wall shows tapes in high relief with the titles and the name of Nebit.
