Gelbrandiger dam runners ( Nebria livida )

The Gelbrandige dam runners ( Nebria livida ) is a beetle of the family of ground beetles ( Carabidae ).

Features

The beetles reach a body length of 12-15 mm and have a distinctive body coloration. The head is colored black, the pronotum is yellow-orange to the black base, the wing covers ( elytra ) are black and have a yellow-orange outer edge slightly forwards them to the deck wing tips inward. The antennae and legs are also yellow-orange.

Occurrence

The animals arrive in Central, Northern and Eastern Europe, east to Siberia and Japan. They live near water, for example on clay cliffs and in the detritus of river banks. You can find them on the day under stones or wood from the plains to about 1000 meters above sea level. In the Rhine Graben can Nebria livida in gravel digging on sand tongues that extend far into the waters to discover. There, the type often found living with the green Striped Ground Beetle ( Omophron limbatum ). Nebria livida is rare in Germany to very rare.
