The Mountain Brook Dam Runner ( Nebria rufescens ), also Gyllenhals dam runners ( Syn: Nebria gyllenhali ) is a species of the family of ground beetles ( Carabidae ).

Features

The beetles are 9 to 12 millimeters long. Your body is completely colored black, the apex bears, unlike Dahl's dam runners ( Nebria dahlii ), no red spot. Rarely, the striped elytra reddish brown, or the legs can be colored yellow-brown. The pronotum is more than 1.5 times longer than wide, basal is the same width as the front. The shoulders are easily visible.

Occurrence and life

The species occurs in North and Central Europe, east to Siberia and in North America. They are found in boreomontanen documents, forests near cold waters, such as on the banks of rocky, gravelly mountain streams and rivers.
