Nederland (Texas)

Nederland is a city in the U.S. state of Texas. Nederland is the Dutch name for the Netherlands. The coat of arms is decorated with tulips.

History

The town was founded in 1897 by Dutch settlers; hence comes its name. Many residents still bear Dutch names and learn Dutch. In 1948 the town was declared a city. Hurricane Ike devastated the city in 2008.
