Neil Banfield

Anthony Neil Banfield ( born January 20, 1962 in Poplar, London ) is an English former football player and current coach.

Life and career

As a player, Banfield had little success. He played three games at Crystal Palace and one year at Leyton Orient. In addition, he had a stopover in Australia when he was three years in Adelaide City under contract. In 1997 he joined as manager of Charlton Athletic FC to Arsenal, where he became the youth team. With the Junggunners he won two FA Youth Cup, the English U-17 Championship in 2000 and the English U-19 Championship 2004. Banfield 2004 took over the second team of Arsenal FC. Between 2004 and 2005 he also worked as an assistant coach of the Irish U- 21 team.
