Nelli Rokita

Nelli Rokita Arnold ( born June 26, 1957 in Chelyabinsk, former USSR) is a Polish politician, former Sejmabgeordnete for the conservative Law and Justice Party (Polish: Prawo i Sprawiedliwość - PiS), Chairman of the Polish section of the European Women's Union and the wife of former politician January Rokita.

Biographical

She comes from a German family who settled in Georgia in the 19th century. Her father was arrested and exiled under Stalin to Chelyabinsk in Siberia, where he had to stay a few years. Released in 1948, the father of director of the transport operation was mending.

As Nelli Rokita was nine years old, her family moved to Kyrgyzstan in Bishkek today. In 1976 the family moved from the Federal Republic of Germany. The parents and the brother settled in Hanover, however, they immediately began studying the history, German and Slavic philology in Hamburg. She speaks six languages, including Polish fluently, with a Russian accent.

Political life

Prior to 2001, she was with the Conservative People's Party (Polish Stronnictwo Konserwatywno - Ludowe - SKL ) connected with a monthly newsletter she edited. In 2002, she sat in the party leadership, but switched after a short time the liberal- conservative Civic Platform ( Platforma poln Obywatelska - PO) above. In 2003 she became President of the European Women's Union, 2005 Chairman of the Polish section of this organization and represents since the Polish section of the board of the European Assembly of this organization. In January 2007, she left the Civic Platform and justified the decision by saying: " The platform is too tilted to the left. " One of the reasons was the " unfairness " of her husband.

On September 14, 2007, she was appointed to the post of Advisor of President Lech Kaczyński in women's affairs. On the same day her husband was just a few hours later his retirement from politics known and justified his decision with the " love of my wife ." On September 22, 2007 Nelli Rokita decided on the choice Covenant of Law and Justice Party in Rzeszów, that it would take on the parliamentary elections in Poland in 2007 on the list of that party. She was a candidate in the elections on the list in the constituency Warsaw, received 6367 votes and got the mandate. On 8 November 2007, she gave up her function of a counselor of President Lech Kaczyński in Women's affairs because of incompatibility of that activity with the electoral mandate.

After the parliamentary elections in Poland in 2011, where you had to suffer a defeat and its mandate velor, Rokita said a provisional withdrawal from politics.

Private life

On 26 July 1994 Nelli Rokita Arnold was a marriage with Jan Rokita in Krakow. Before the wedding, she joined the Catholic Church and her future husband was her godfather. Both jointly educate the daughter from her first marriage.
