Nelson Rivas

Nelson Enrique Rivas López ( born March 25, 1983 in Pradera, Valle del Cauca, Colombia) is a Colombian football player. He plays at the position of central defender.

Career

In the club

Nelson Rivas began his career in 2002 with Deportivo Pasto in his native Colombia. At first he was a wanderer and changed four times between 2002 and 2007 the club signed him to the Italian tradition club Inter Milan. He played for his home teams Deportivo Cali, Deportes Tolima, then again for Deportivo Cali before moving to the Argentine wholesale club River Plate. There he performed well, which is why he was hired by Inter. With the Milanese he won the 2008 Italian Championship and the Italian Supercup. On 4 October 2008, he was injured in the game against FC Bologna and fell hard to the end of the year.

At the beginning of the 2009/10 season Rivas was awarded for one year for AS Livorno. After Rivas completed in the new season barely inserts in the league, he was loaned out in January 2011 for half a year at Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk.

On 31 August 2011, the contract between Inter and Rivas, whose duration was dated June 2012, was dissolved by mutual consent.

On October 6, 2011, he signed with Montreal Impact and will play in Major League Soccer for the 2012 season.

In the National Team

Nelson Rivas gave his debut in 2008 for the Colombian national team.
