Nelson Shin

Nelson Shin ( Hangul: 신능 균, Shin Neung- kyun; b. 1939 ) is a South Korean animator and producer as well as founder and president of Akom Production Co., Ltd..

Life

He began in the 1970s as an animator at DePatie - Freleng Enterprises where he worked on the Pink Panther films. He is also the creator of the brilliant " lightsaber blades" of the Jedi Knight in Star Wars.

Shins animation studio mainly produces for U.S. television series, including: The Simpsons, Batman: The Animated Series, X-Men, Invasion America, and Arthur. Shin is the producer of the television series The Transformers and Transformers - The Movie. Akoms Lead Animator is Kim Jun -bok.

His film Empress Chung was the first movie started off in the North and South Korea at the same time.

In 2009 he was appointed Chairman of the International Animated Film Association, which he was until 2012.
