The NEMO is a building designed by Renzo Piano Technology Museum of Sciences in Amsterdam, near the central station. Built in 1997 the building stands on the foundations of IJtunnels. It forms the entrance of the tunnel and is - well intended - often compared to a ship. The roof of the NEMO is a popular meeting place and vantage point. Picnics are expressly allowed. If only a few visitors staying in the museum, the roof is open to non- visitors.

The museum opened at this location in 1997 under the name " New Metropolis " and was renamed in 2000 after financial problems. 300,000 visitors to visit the NEMO per year.

The exhibition contains over four levels exhibits from all areas of science. The focus is on hands-on experiments, and technical and biological education for children.
