Nemours

Nemours is a French town with 12,822 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the Ile- de -France region.

Location

Nemours is located 70 km southeast of Paris (BP ) in the arrondissement of Fontainebleau of the department of Seine- et- Marne on the River Loing and the Canal du Loing, which accompanies the river of the same name.

History

In the Middle Ages Nemours was the name -giving location of the Duchy of Nemours the middle reaches of the Seine along stretched to the Duchy of Orléans.

Attractions

  • The Gothic church of Saint -Jean -Baptiste was consecrated in 1595, is a monument historique.
  • In the village is a castle from the 12th century. There is also a monument historique.
