Nené (footballer born 1949)
Tamagnini Manuel Gomes Baptista, better known as Tamagnini Nené ( born November 20, 1949 in Leca da Palmeira ), is a former Portuguese football player. Nené played the whole time in his career for Benfica as a striker.
Career
In the club
His professional debut for Benfica he gave in 1968 and remained throughout his career to the club until 1986 faithful. As a 36 -year-old, he resigned from football.
As a player, he won ten Benfica Portuguese league titles and eight times the trophy. He also played in the UEFA Cup in 1983, but Benfica failed against RSC Anderlecht (0-1 away and 1-1 at home).
In the National Team
In the Portuguese national football team, he made his debut on April 21, 1971 against Scotland (2-0). He also took part in the European Championship 1984 on June 23 in 1984 and reached the semifinals. In 66 games for Portugal Nené scored 22 goals.
Later he was youth coach at Benfica.
