Neoglyphidodon

Neoglyphidodon is a genus Indo-Pacific damselfish (Pomacentridae ). They live on the reef flat and the outer zones of the coral reefs and lagoons. Distribution area are the coastal waters of Indonesia and the Philippines.

Features

The fish are 13 to 17 inches long and are quite high backs. The juveniles of some species are very brightly colored, while adult animals are solid brown or black. Along the lateral line organ they have 15-20 scales. The number of gill Reuse extensions is 21 to 26

Way of life

Neoglyphidodon species live in pairs and defend their territory with great aggressiveness towards conspecifics and alien fishes. They feed on plankton, small crustaceans and algae.
