Nepenthes bongso is a species of the genus of pitcher plants ( Nepenthes ). This carnivorous plant is native to the island of Sumatra.
Description
Nepenthes bongsa is like most Nepenthes a perennial, climbing shrub. The leaf base ( in pitcher plants often interpreted as leaf blade ) is lanceolate and leathery. The ( medium-sized ) cans are up to 11 cm long, with two ciliated wing bars. The closely spaced fins of the pot opening are pomeranzengelb, the cans and the cover itself are green to kiwifarben.
Distribution and habitat
Nepenthes bongso is native to the island belonging to Indonesia Sumatra. It grows as endemic in the central part of the south- westerly highlands at altitudes 1000-2700 meters.
System
It is assigned to the so-called Highland Nepenthes. The first description of Nepenthes bongso was made in 1839 by Pieter Willem Korthals in his work over het Geslacht Nepenthes
