Neptune fields

Neptuni Akrar (German: Neptune fields) is a nature reserve in the north of the Swedish Baltic island of Öland.

The northerly of Byxelkrok on the banks of the Kalmar Strait area received its name in 1741 while Carl Linnaeus Ölandreise. It is one of the most visited areas of Öland because of its peculiar appearance. Neptune fields consist of one along the shore executing large boulder field. In June and July blooming on the otherwise barren land of the Common bugloss in lush blue.

The scree forming stones come from the ice of the last ice age and were honed over thousands of years by the waves and formed into the gravel bank. In the field fossils were found in particular of trilobites and brachiopods.

South of the area are the burial ground of Byxelkrok comprising the stone ship Forgallaskeppet, and the stone Hoga Flisa.
