Ner Middleswarth

Ner Middleswarth ( born December 12, 1783 in New Jersey; † June 2, 1865 in Beaver, Pennsylvania ) was an American politician. From 1853 to 1855 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Even in his youth came Ner Middleswarth to Beaver Town in Pennsylvania. He received only a limited education. During the British - American War of 1812 he was a captain in the American armed forces. Between 1815 and 1841 he sat as an MP in the House of Representatives from Pennsylvania; in 1828 and 1836, he was its president. He then completed a term in the state Senate. He joined the founded in the 1830s Whig party.

In the congressional elections of 1852 Middleswarth was in the tenth electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he succeeded the Democrats Milo Melankthon Dimmick on March 4, 1853. Since he resigned in 1854 to further candidacy, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1855. This was marked by the events leading up to the Civil War. After the dissolution of the Whigs, he was a member of the Republican Party.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Middleswarth worked among others in agriculture. He was also president of the company Beaver Furnace Co. In 1858 he became an Associate Justice in Snyder County. Ner Middleswarth died on 2 June 1865 in Beavertown. With his wife Christina Schwartzkoppen he had twelve children.
