Nerio Bernardi

Nerio Bernardi (actually Nerino Bernardi, born July 23, 1899 in Bologna, † January 12, 1971 in Rome ) was an Italian actor, drama teacher and voice actor.

Life

Bernardi first began to study medicine and mathematics, then turned, however, the film, when he gave the newly founded in his hometown production company " Felsina movie" the commitment for two films. After the publication of which he was in demand as a newly discovered " young lovers " and turned to 1922 many more movies. Then he gave the Teatro degli Italiani, directed by Lucio D' Ambra his stage debut. In the following years he played at numerous stages of Italy and worked with famous directors like Max Reinhardt (including 1935 in a production of William Shakespeare's Merchant of Venice), Luchino Visconti and Pier Paolo Pasolini and in addition to the female stars of his time, so with Alda Borelli, Andreina Rossi and Tatiana Pavlova.

In 1934 Bernardi his film roles again. In his over 50 years spanning film career of character actor Bernardi often personified mythological characters and historical figures such as Agamemnon ( Adameo ed Eva and The Trojan War ), Alexander Graham Bell (Antonio Meucci, directed by Enrico Guazzoni ), David ( The Shepherd King), Cicero ( Julius Caesar, tyrant of Rome), Belisarius ( Theodora, Empress of Byzantium ), and Cardinal Richelieu ( Zorro and the Three Musketeers ). He played alongside international stars such as Gérard Philipe ( Fanfan la Hussar, The Charterhouse of Parma), Simone Signoret ( Thérèse Raquin by Émile Zola ) and remote Andel ( Mademoiselle Nitouche ).

Synchronization

At the outbreak of the Second World War, Bernardi held on for filming in Spain. Like other Italian colleagues (including Emilio Cigoli ), he initially remained there and worked increasingly as a voice actor. Even after his return to Italy he stopped this activity loyal and lent his deep, intense voice, for example Cedric Hardwicke ( Rope ), Basil Rathbone ( The Mark of Zorro ), George Sanders (Adventure in the South Seas ), Donald Crisp (Sun green Was My valley) and Henry Travers ( shadow of a Doubt ).
