Nero Digital

Nero Digital is a collection of MPEG -4 -compatible video and audio codecs that are incorporated in the focal Suite Nero Burning ROM. Nero Digital has been developed by Nero AG ( Germany ) and Ateme (France).

Nero Digital includes two video and audio codecs that can create the following formats in MP4 file containers:

  • Video codecs: MPEG -4 Part 2 ASP
  • MPEG -4 Part 10 AVC (aka H.264)
  • MPEG -4 Part 3 LC -AAC
  • MPEG -4 Part 3 HE- AAC (also known as aacPlus )

Except for captions and chapter information Nero Digital is fully compatible with the ISO / IEC standard. Created with Nero Digital MP4 files can be played DVD players and a variety of software media players already on some ( Nero certified ). Nero recommends to play even one's own product, Nero Showtime.

The Nero Digital codecs are not delivered as a DirectShow filter or VfW codecs and thus can not be used in other audio and video editing programs.
