Nessa Childers

Nessa Childers ( born October 9, 1956 in Dublin) is an Irish politician and Member of Parliament for the constituency Ireland East for the Irish Labour Party, as a member of the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament.

Nessa Childers is the daughter of former Irish President Erskine Hamilton Childers and his wife, Rita Childers. In 2004, she joined the Irish Labour Party. When she was not placed in the local elections in 2004 as a candidate for the Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council, she left the party and joined the Green Party on, for which they then until August 2008, the Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council was employed from June 2004. In September 2008, Childers moved back to the Irish Labour Party to successfully emerge as their candidate in elections to the European Parliament in June 2009.

She is the mother of two children.

Childers is a member of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety and the Delegation for relations with Japan as Deputy it is in the Committee on Culture and Education
