Nethegau

(In some sources also called Netgau ) The Nethegau is named after the river Nethe and essentially comprises Brakeler mountain country between the Weser and Eggegebirge around the towns of Brakel and Bad Driburg in today's circle in Hoexter North Rhine -Westphalia.

The area was formerly a Saxon Gau and was administered by the Carolingian conquest of Saxony by Gaugrafen. Parts of the area went over in the possession of the abbey of Corvey over time.
