Company History

The first net market was opened in 1981 in Copenhagen, in response to the market entry of German discounter Aldi in Denmark. The entry of the net in Germany and the UK took place in 1990, In 1995, Dansk Supermarked the ED transactions by Carrefour. 1995 also saw the expansion of net in Poland, and seven years later opened the first store in Sweden.

The distinguishing feature of the company, a black Scottish Terrier, was designed by the Danish advertising executive Peter Hiort ( 1940-2013 ).

The company's headquarters is located in Stavenhagen, Mecklenburg- Vorpommern. Managing Director of Net Supermarket GmbH is Møberg Morten Nielsen, Margit Kühn replaced on 2 November 2009 and previously was managing director of Net England.

2006, the discounter began its expansion in Schleswig- Holstein and opened there on April 3 in Elmshorn its first store. In September 2008, a total of 272 stores, including nine operated in Schleswig -Holstein. In the coming years a year were added about 25 new markets. The expansion in Saxony -Anhalt rested until 2007, as it came & Co. OHG for confrontation with the Netto Marken- Discount GmbH in this field.
