New Albany is a U.S. city located in the state of Ohio, northeast of Columbus. The city is located in Franklin County and Licking County, where the largest surface in the Franklin County is. The population is 7,724 (as of 2010). The city was founded in 1837 and is now a growing suburb of the Columbus metropolitan area.

New Albany is located northeast of Columbus, Ohio, at an altitude of 312 meters ( 1,024 feet).

History

The country was founded by Nobel Landon and William Yantis in the center of Plain Township in 1837. The country was divided into pieces and sold first settlers. Perhaps the settlers came from Albany in the State of New York.

In 1856 New Albany was registered with 50 inhabitants and the first mayor ( S. Ogden ) was chosen. The Wilkins Lumber Mill, later to unnamed New Albany Mill, opened in 1881. In 1922, the first female mayor of the city was with Mrs. Edward Babbitt selected.
