Franklin County (Ohio)

Franklin County is a county located in the U.S. state of Ohio of the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Columbus, which is the capital of Ohio the same time.

Geography

The County is located a few kilometers south-west of the geographic center of Ohio and has an area of ​​1407 square kilometers, of which nine square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Delaware County, Licking County, Fairfield County, Pickaway County, Madison County and Union County.

History

Franklin County was formed on March 30, 1803 from parts of Ross County. It was named after Benjamin Franklin, a North American publisher, statesman, writer, scientist, inventor, natural philosopher and Freemason. He is also regarded as one of the founding fathers of the United States.
