Van Wert County, Ohio

Van Wert County is a county located in the state of Ohio of the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Van Wert.

Geography

The County is located in northwest Ohio, on the west by Indiana and has an area of ​​1063 square kilometers, of which one square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Paulding County, Putnam County, Allen County, Auglaize County, Mercer County, Adams County ( Indiana) and Allen County ( Indiana).

History

Van Wert County was formed on February 12, 1820 from parts of Darke County. It was named after Isaac Van Wart, a soldier and an important figure in the American Revolutionary War.
