Wayne County (Ohio)
The County is located in the central northeastern Ohio and has an area of 1441 square kilometers, of which two square miles are water. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Medina County, Summit County, Stark County, Holmes County and Ashland County.

According to the census in 2000 lived in Wayne County 111 564 people in 40 445 households and 29 484 families. The population density was 78 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was made up of 96.52 percent White, 1.57 percent African American, 0.16 percent Native American, 0.66 percent Asian, 0.01 percent of residents from the Pacific Islander, and 0.24 percent from other races groups; 0.84 percent were descended from two or more races. 0.75 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 40 445 households out of which 35.0 percent have children under the age of 18 living with them. 60.8 percent were married couples living together, 8.7 percent were single mothers, 27.1 percent were non-families, 22.7 percent of all households and 8.7 percent had someone living alone at the age of 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.68 and the average family size was 3.17.
Based on the county the population was spread from 27.4 percent population under 18 years, 9.8 percent between 18 and 24 years, 27.8 percent between 25 and 44 years, 22.7 percent between 45 and 64 years and 12.2 percent were 65 years old or older. The average age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 97.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.5 men statistically.
The median income for a household was $ 41,538, and the median income for a family was $ 48,294. Males have a median income of $ 33,976, women $ 23,203. The per capita income was $ 18,330. 5.4 percent of families and 8.0 percent of the population lived below the poverty line. Of these, 10.6 percent were children or adolescents under age 18 and 6.9 percent of those 65 years.
