Miami County (Ohio)

Miami County is a county located in the U.S. state of Ohio. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Troy.

Geography

The County is located in western Ohio, is about 45 km from the border with Indiana and has an area of 1060 square kilometers, of which six square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Shelby County, Champaign County, Clark County, Montgomery County and Darke County.

History

Miami County was formed on January 16, 1807 from parts of Montgomery County. It was named after an expression of the North American Indian people of Ottawa, which means as much as mother.
