Shelby County (Ohio)

Shelby County is a county located in the state of Ohio of the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Sidney.

Geography

The County is located in western Ohio, is about 45 km from the border with Indiana and has an area of 1065 square kilometers, of which 5 square kilometers is water area. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Auglaize County, Logan County, Champaign County, Miami County and Darke County.

History

Shelby County was formed on January 7, 1819 parts of Miami County. It was named for Isaac Shelby, a general in the American Revolutionary War and later the fifth Governor of Kentucky.
