Pike County (Ohio)

Pike County is a county located in the state of Ohio of the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Waverly.

Geography

The County is located in southern Ohio, each situated about 60 km away from the border with West Virginia and Kentucky and has an area of 1150 square kilometers, of which six square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Ross County, Jackson County, Scioto County, Adams County and Highland County.

History

Pike County was formed on January 4, 1815 from parts of Adams, Ross and Scioto County. It was named for Zebulon Pike, an American officer, explorer and explorer of the North American continent.
