Fairfield County (Ohio)

Fairfield County is a county located in the state of Ohio of the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Lancaster.

Geography

The County is located just south of the geographic center of Ohio and has an area of ​​1317 square kilometers, of which nine square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Licking County, Perry County, Hocking County, Pickaway County and Franklin County.

History

Fairfield County was formed on December 9, 1800 from parts of Ross County and Washington County. It was named possibly after the beautiful, lush fields ( fairfield ).
