Paulding County (Ohio)

Paulding County is a county located in the state of Ohio of the United States. In the 2000 census, the county had 20 293 inhabitants and a population density of 19 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Paulding (Ohio ).

Geography

The County is located in northwest Ohio, on the west by Indiana and has an area of ​​1077 square kilometers, of which seven square kilometers of water surface. It borders in Ohio clockwise to the following counties: Defiance County, Putnam County, Van Wert County and Allen County.

History

Paulding County was formed on February 12, 1820 from parts of Darke County. It was named after John Paulding, a major figure in the American Revolutionary War. According to him, several counties and towns were named.
