Muskingum County, Ohio

Muskingum County is a county located in the state of Ohio of the United States. In the 2000 census, the county had 84 585 inhabitants and a population density of 49 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Zanesville.

Geography

The County is located in east-central Ohio and has an area of ​​1742 square kilometers, of which 21 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Coshocton County, Guernsey County, Noble County, Morgan County, Perry County and Licking County.

History

Muskingum County was formed on January 7, 1804 from parts of Fairfield County and Washington County. It was named after an Indian term meaning as situated on the river or on the river bank so much.
