Medina County (Ohio)

Medina County is a county located in the state of Ohio of the United States. In the 2000 census, the county had 151 095 inhabitants and a population density of 138 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Medina.

Geography

The County is located just east of northern Ohio, is about 30 km from Lake Erie, the southernmost of the five Great Lakes, away and has an area of 1906 square kilometers, of which four square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Cuyahoga County, Summit County, Wayne County, Ashland County, and Lorain County.

History

Medina County was formed on February 18, 1812 from portions of Portage County. It was named after the city of Medina in Saudi Arabia.

According to the census of 2000, there were 151 095 people in Medina County. Of these, 1,519 people lived in collective centers, the other inhabitants living in 54 542 households and 42 215 families. The population density was 138 people per square kilometer.
