Medina County (Ohio)
Medina County is a county located in the state of Ohio of the United States. In the 2000 census, the county had 151 095 inhabitants and a population density of 138 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Medina.
Geography
The County is located just east of northern Ohio, is about 30 km from Lake Erie, the southernmost of the five Great Lakes, away and has an area of 1906 square kilometers, of which four square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Cuyahoga County, Summit County, Wayne County, Ashland County, and Lorain County.
History
Medina County was formed on February 18, 1812 from portions of Portage County. It was named after the city of Medina in Saudi Arabia.

According to the census of 2000, there were 151 095 people in Medina County. Of these, 1,519 people lived in collective centers, the other inhabitants living in 54 542 households and 42 215 families. The population density was 138 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was made up of 97.26 percent White, 0.88 percent African American, 0.15 percent Native American, 0.64 percent Asian, 0.02 percent of residents from the Pacific Islander, and 0.25 percent from other races groups; 0.80 percent were descended from two or more races. 0.93 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 54 542 households out of which 37.7 percent have children under the age of 18 living with them. 66.5 percent were married couples living together, 7.8 percent were single mothers, 22.6 percent were non-families, 18.9 percent of all households and 6.9 percent had someone living alone at the age of 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.74 and the average family size was 3.15 persons.
Based on the county the population was spread from 27.5 percent population under 18 years, 7.0 percent between 18 and 24 years, 30.6 percent between 25 and 44 years, 24.4 percent between 45 and 64 years and 10.5 percent were 65 years old or older. The average age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 97.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.9 men statistically.
The median income for a household was $ 55,811, and the median income for a family was $ 62,489. Males have a median income of $ 44,600, women $ 27,513. The per capita income was $ 24,251. 3.5 percent of families and 4.6 percent of the population lived below the poverty line. Of these, 5.9 percent were children or adolescents under 18 years old and 4.8 percent are 65 years old.
