Clermont County, Ohio

Clermont County is a county located in the state of Ohio of the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Batavia.

Geography

The County is located almost in the extreme southwest of Ohio, on the south by Kentucky and has an area of ​​1185 square kilometers, of which 15 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Warren County, Clinton County, Brown County, Bracken County (Kentucky), Pendleton County (Kentucky), Campbell County ( Kentucky) and Hamilton County.

History

Clermont County was formed on December 6, 1800 from parts of Hamilton County. It was named after the French city of Clermont- Ferrand, Clermont was called until only the middle of the 18th century.
