Marion County (Ohio)

Marion County is a county located in the state of Ohio of the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Marion.

Geography

The County is located just north-west of the geographic center of Ohio and has an area of ​​1047 square kilometers, of which one square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Crawford County, Morrow County, Delaware County, Union County, Hardin County and Wyandot County.

History

Marion County was formed on February 12, 1820 from parts of Delaware County. It was named for Francis Marion, a lieutenant colonel and later brigadier general of South Carolina Mili in the American War of Independence.
