Jackson County is a county located in the state of Ohio of the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Jackson.

Geography

The County is located in southern Ohio and has an area of ​​1092 square kilometers, of which three square miles are water. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Vinton County, Gallia County, Lawrence County, Scioto County, Pike County and Ross County.

History

Jackson County was formed on January 12, 1816 from parts of Athens, Gallia, Ross and Scioto County. It was named after Andrew Jackson, the first governor of Florida, a general in the British -American War of 1812-1814 and the seventh President of the United States.
